As a Snowminds instructor, you become part of a vibrant community of like-minded individuals from around the world, united by a passion for skiing and teaching. That means you can relax and look forward to your time as a ski instructor. Throughout the season, you’ll not only refine your skiing and instructing skills but also forge deep connections with fellow instructors, students, and locals. Step 1 – Book a free call
Talk to an experienced travel advisor. The call is free and you’ll get answers to all your questions. It takes about 15 minutes. Book here.
Step 2 – Choose course and destination
We help you find the course that matches your level, your budget, and your dream. We offer courses from 3 weeks to a full winter. See courses here.
Step 3 – Training and exam
We prepare you thoroughly. Our instructors have taken the exams themselves – they know exactly what it takes. 100% of our participants who have passed their exam secured a job.
Step 4 – Job at a local ski school
We match you with a ski school, handle the paperwork, and make sure you’re ready from day one. From there, it’s up to you to make the season your own.
This is the question we hear the most. And the answer is almost always yes. You don’t need to be an expert skier – you need to be able to ski at an intermediate level and have the motivation to teach others. We’ve trained people from very different starting points. What matters most is your motivation, not your current ski level. You also have the option to join one of our ski camps to improve your level before starting the instructor training.
Book a free call, and we’ll assess it together with you.
It depends on the destination and the length of the course. Some courses are designed for those with limited experience and build your skills as part of the program. Others require a solid foundation. We’ll find the course that fits your exact level – that’s why we start with a conversation.
If you don’t have much experience, we recommend our ski camps. We offer both beginner and development camps, so you can improve your skiing before joining one of our instructor courses.
Many of our participants finance their season through student grants, savings, or loans. Since you earn a salary as an instructor, it’s essentially an investment that pays for itself. We can help you create a realistic budget based on your specific situation.
Most people don’t – especially if they do a full season. Instructor salaries in Japan and Switzerland are generally the highest. In Canada, the social experience and career value are the strongest arguments. We always recommend reviewing the numbers before making a decision.
It rarely happens. We prepare you thoroughly – our instructors have taken the exact exams you’ll be taking and know what’s required. If something does go wrong, we’ll find a solution. We’ve never sent anyone home without a job.
We guarantee that you’ll be placed in a ski school after you have passed your training. You’ll be matched with a ski school and invited to a job interview with them, so you can ensure the right fit together. We handle the contact, paperwork, and negotiation.
Yes. We use internationally recognized certification systems – CSIA in Canada, BASI in Europe, and locally recognized systems in Japan and New Zealand. A Snowminds certification opens doors at ski schools around the world.
We handle: training, exams, job placement, accommodation for the first weeks, and all paperwork.
You handle: packing your bag, getting ski gear, and showing up with energy and motivation.
It depends on your nationality and destination. Canada, Japan and New Zealand requires a working holiday visa permit – and we will help you apply. Europe are typically easier. We go through everything specific to your situation before you book.
Brexit has restricted British passport holders ability to work in Europe and Switzerland – but don’t worry we have got you covered! Check out our opportunities with a British passport.
Absolutely. Most of our participants go alone and meet their best friends during the course. The community is a core part of the concept – you’re never alone from day one.
Not sure? Read the blog about Julie, who went to Canada without knowing anyone – and how it became one of the best experiences of her life.
The winter season typically starts in November-December and ends in April-May. New Zealand offers courses during the northern hemisphere’s summer (June-October). We have courses starting continuously – book a call and we’ll find the date that suits you.
More than most people expect. International employers and educational institutions highly value documented international experience, leadership, and teaching skills. A season as a certified ski instructor includes all of that.
After the season, many of our instructors reunite at our reunion event and relive the memories from the winter.
You also have the opportunity to apply to become a team leader and go again with more responsibility. And if you’re not ready to leave the season lifestyle behind, we’re happy to help you go again as an experienced instructor.
You can also work at Toll Havs kiosk and continue being part of Snowminds over the summer. Check out our jobs here.
For others, the experience becomes a stepping stone for studies, jobs, or new adventures. Whatever you choose, you’ll come home a stronger version of yourself.
