If you ask an experienced instructor what their ideal season would look like, it would without a doubt be a combination of high-level training, teaching, and having a ton of fun together with the other instructors. That is exactly what our 12-week dual instructor course in Austria offers.
With this program, Snowminds offers you the opportunity to combine training and working in one season, whilst having the opportunity to take both your Level 1 (Anwärter) and Level 2 (Landes 1) certification during your first winter season. This means that you would get a level 1 dual certificate, so you can teach both skiing and snowboarding. For your level 2, you get to choose if you would like to be higher certified in either skiing or snowboarding. How cool is that? You will enjoy training from our highly experienced coaches, working step by step on improving your own technique and teaching skills. Combine that with the opportunity of a minimum of 5 weeks of shadow and work, and you have what we would call the perfect first winter season!
You will effectively train and improve from the moment you touch ground in Austria until you leave. You will start out with 3 weeks of intensive training in January that will set you up for success at the Austrian Anwärter (Level 1) exam on both ski and snowboard!
After successfully completing your level 1 exams, you will spend 6 weeks at a ski school where you will gather real working experience under the guidance of experienced instructors. It’s the ideal way to put what you have learned during the course into practice. During this teaching and shadow period, you will not only for the first time put what you have learned to use, but you will also gather the necessary experience to continue with the Landes (level 2) training.
After the 6 weeks at the ski school, you will continue the program with an intensive training program to prepare you for the official Austrian Landes course. We can guarantee that you’ll take your development to the next level and got you covered with a bed and a season lift ticket for almost 2800 km of slopes to explore. You are welcome!

Training Course Housing
You will live in a hotel with Wifi and all the basic necessities. You can expect to live with 2-5 people per room or apartment. While this may not sound fancy, that’s “mountain luxury” for you.
At Snowminds, “we take care of our own”. That’s why we specifically only work with hotels that make healthy and nutritious food. Breakfast typically consists of a large, nutritious buffet. Dinner will either be a 3-course meal or a buffet with soup, salad, main course and dessert.
Ski Season Housing
Wherever you go, Snowminds guarantees you arranged housing at your local ski school for your season. The precise details of your housing vary quite a bit, ski school to ski school and country to country. That’s because everybody does things differently. Regardless, you can expect to either live in ski school housing or affordable housing arranged by Snowminds, which is easily accessible to a nearby lift.
To offer a high-quality education, we work together with the Salzburger Berufskilehrer & Snowboardlehrer Verband, one of the world’s most recognized instructor schools. This will not only look good on the CV, but is also very useful if you decide to return with Snowminds for our other destinations around the world. For the final 16 days of your course, your coaches will take you through a challenging instructor training program, which is Level 1 within their education system. Here you will be trained to teach both beginners and more experienced skiers and snowboarders, and become a competent instructor ready to teach anywhere in Austria.
