Famous for some of the sunniest ski resorts in Europe, high peaks and Europe’s hidden gem. Spain is truly a must-try for ski- and snowboard enthusiasts. For a long time, Baqueira-Beret has been known as an entry point for celebrities who want to ski, and not without good reason. Baqueira Beret is also fit for a king – literally – being the ski resort of choice for the Spanish royal family who have their own winter home here. ¿Vamos?

This is your moment. Baqueira Beret is the place to go, if you love snowsports, tapas an sunny days. Tucked away in a far-off valley in the Spanish Pyrenees, it gets none of the attention lavished on resorts in the Alps. 

A SEASON IN SPAIN

Skiing here is quite unlike skiing in the Alps: for the most part it’s cheaper, though Spaniards complain that it’s more expensive than other Spanish resorts. But here you’ll find exquisite Catalan and Aranese cuisine, served in a countless bars, cafes and restaurants; authentic mountain villages with much more charm than the resort itself; and a warm, welcoming culture, with its own very-much-alive Aranese language, houses built of stone, slate and wood, and beautiful Romanesque churches.

As a ski or snowboard instructor in Spain, you both have plenty of opportunity to improve your own skiing in a direction that suits you, while working for a serious ski school that expects you to provide the same service as the rest of the Spanish people are known for worldwide.

THE INSTRUCTOR LIFE

The food here is something else, though. It has French influences: for example the patés, and some desserts such as the crespèths, also called pasteres or pescajus, come very clearly from across the French border.

A season in Spain offers amazing skiing and a lot of opportunity for both freeride and freestyle in combination with a culture where service is paramount and the salary matches the celebrities’ extravagant lifestyle. (Almost)

But Aranese cuisine has its own personality and is strongly influenced by the climate. The intense cold in the winter calls for soups and stews, with the best example being the famous olla aranesa  (Aranese pot) – flavoured with haricot beans, chickpeas, ham, pork and chicken.

WHAT DO YOU GET FROM SNOWMINDS?

This experience is offered to ski or snowboard instructors with a recognised qualification who ideally already have some experience teaching. We arrange your winter season and help with finding a job at a Spanish ski school, accommodation, lift pass, uniform and everything else you need. We can also help you book transportation to Spain and advise you on possibilities of travelling after the season.

The trip includes:

• A winter season as a ski or snowboard instructor with JOB GUARANTEE at a ski school in Baqueira-Beret, Spain
• Arranged accommodation, lift pass and uniform during the season*
• Spanish contract of 1200 € per month + after qualification*
• Accommodation (shared room) and food
• Free lift pass (they must pay 725€ for the lift pass before season and the ski school refund to you at the end of the season) 
• You will be collected from Toulouse airport by the skis schools
• Work insurance and at least one day off per week*
• Assistance choosing insurance and all other practicalities
• Kick-off event before departure

What is not included?

• Transportation to/from Spain
• Cancellation and travel insurance
• Any expenses for accommodation, lift passes and uniform during the season
• Anything else not specifically mentioned above

*Final terms of employment will be provided by the ski school. There may be a personal payment for accommodation, lift pass, work insurance etc. as part of the contract.

We expect you to:

• Have a minimum level 2 instructor education (eg CSIA, IASI, Landes or similar) and ideally experience as an instructor
• Minimum of 18 years
• Be serious, responsible and have a positive mindset
• Like working with people of all ages
• Fluent in English (and preferably Spanish, which is an advantage)

Once you have submitted your application we will call you and then perhaps invite you to an interview where we will advise you on your options and assess where we might find work for you. If we can offer you a place on our team, the next step will be a personal interview with our partner ski schools.
