Our Spanish destination, Sierra Nevada, is known for its many sunny days, amazing food and long ski season. The ski resort is located in the Andalusian region and is one of the most southern and sunniest ski resorts in Europe. The combination of sunny weather and the highest mountain in the Spanish mainland gives a unique experience with bluebird skiing from December to early May.
The destination is really popular and has reached around 1.000.000 visitors the recent years. The many skiing guests brings lots of great atmosphere to the cozy town in Sierra Nevada. The charming city Granada, known for its rhythmic flamenco music, is located only 30 minutes from the ski resort and is also worth a visit when going on a season in Spain.
Sierra Nevada offers over 100 kilometers of piste and many different skiing activities for all levels. The resort is well visited by Spaniards from all over the country, creating an authentic Spanish experience on the slopes and in the city.
At an altitude of 3481 meters, the Sierra Nevada offers surprisingly high snow quality. All the slopes are above the tree line, so with plenty of snow it is possible to ski (almost) anywhere on the mountain. On the top of the Sierra Nevada’s highest mountain, Mulhacén, on cloudless days you can look out over the Mediterranean and all the way to Morocco.
Despite the many sunny days and the warm climate in Spain, you can expect a long ski season in the Sierra Nevada. With the highest mountain on the Spanish mainland, temperatures are low enough for the season to last from early December to early May
