Kicking Horse

technique, technique, technique

Kicking Horse, action-packed days, quiet nights.

Kicking Horse is one of the more technical ski areas in Canada. This is due to their reputation of having challenging and exciting slopes. Kicking Horse is the perfect place to seek for adventures such as heliskiing, but also has plenty of day to day pistes options. The village itself is on the other hand rather quiet and does not have a big nightlife.

Bowlarama and the longest run!

One of Kicking Horse main benefits is snow quality. Located in British Columbia,  the Kicking Horse Resort is perfectly located for producing light powder snow and receives an average of 7.5 meters of snow per season. This in combination with the amazing terrain makes Kicking Horse the perfect choice for your powder ski-touring in Canada. Not only the advanced skiers but also the beginners have plenty of options to practice. For beginner skiers, there are three chairlifts which also serve as the linkage to the intermediate slopes. For the intermediate/ advanced skiers, there is the ‘Gondola’ lift which will give you access to a wide variety of more challenging on and off-piste options. This lift starts at the bottom of the mountain and brings you to almost all the way to the top. The terrain is 1,133 hectares and provides a total of 128 pistes. And if this is not enough they also have one of the longest vertical runs in North America! (1,260m)

Safety, learning and having fun

Kicking Horse ski school, TELUS Winter Sports School, is the teaching school in Kicking Horse and has everything you need. From Daycare to Big mountain ski training, Telus has it all. Children from 18 months to six years of age can have daycare treatment in which a wide range of activities will be arranged by a certified team. Kids lessons are provided for the age of six to twelve years old and have a maximum class to teacher ratio of 1:7. Private lessons are possible for children and for whole families. We can, therefore, ensure that The Telus Winter Sports School is in line with our value; safety, learning and having fun.

Bear Necessities.

The village is more on the quiet side and is not at all like the super crowded resorts like Whistler. It is a small and rather sedate village with a few good restaurants and bars. The resort, however, is filled with activities. There is a grizzly bear refuge! This is the largest enclosed and protected grizzly bear habitat in the world and if you don’t see a bear you will get free access to your next visit! There are also plenty of other activities such as golfing, paragliding, yoga, and ranger assisted hiking tours. Enough activities for everyone!
