Freeride course in Canada

The experience of a lifetime in the Canadian powder snow

Unleash your inner freerider  during your season in Canada

If you think about doing a season in Canada, you have certainly also thought about the wonderful off-piste trips in the deep Canadian powder snow. Now you have the chance to realize that dream with the Snowminds Freeride course.

In collaboration with the Apex Mountain Resort, we offer you a unique opportunity to learn the art of freeriding from the very best.

The training lasts a total of 10 days and is an extension of the 3-week ski or snowboard teacher training in Canada in November / December. You work for the ski school during the season, but in the less busy periods, you get training on everything from off-piste. Choosing the right lines, cliff drops (whoop whoop!) And freeride competition training. You don’t have to be an off-piste expert to participate, but we do assume that you would like to learn and are always ready to join us in the fresh Canadian powder!

Learn how to freeride from the very best

Freeride literally means free driving and that is exactly what we focus on during the Freeride course in Canada. You can hardly ignore the fact that the course largely takes place on the off-piste, where our experienced coaches help you develop yourself in the powder snow. The course starts in January, where you first complete the Canadian Avalanche Safety Training Level 1 training (AST1). This is a 2-day introduction to off-piste safety.

You will also receive 8 days of training during your season. In addition to being a great guy, Aaron is a very experienced freeride coach and former Freeride World Tour Rider – a title that not many people can put on their resume!

During the lessons you will be introduced to freeriding and who knows, maybe after the course you can also participate in freeride competitions 😉

What’s included?

The course takes place from January to March during your season in Canada. In collaboration with the ski school, we organize the training so that it fits in perfectly with your daily schedule. During the course we ensure:

  • 2 day Avalanche Safety Training (AST) Level 1 diploma
  • 8 days freeride training at the highest level
  • Accommodation and ski pass during the course *
  • A super nice community
  • An experience where everything is organized

What’s not included?

  • Food during the course
  • Pocket money and anything else not mentioned above

* The course takes place at the destination where you will work as a teacher. So you can just stay at your skischool or apartment and use the lift pass from the ski school during the training. The costs for the ski pass and the stay are therefore not included in the price.

Who can apply?

The course is a supplement to the 3-week Level 1 ski or snowboard instructor training in Canada and will take place during your season as a ski instructor in addition to your job as a teacher. You don’t have to be an expert in powder driving yet. The most important thing is that you want to learn and are not afraid of being challenged. If you are already a ski or snowboard boarder, for example, you already have an Anwärter or NZSIA and you want to do a season in Canada, then you are also very welcome to join us.

There is a lot of interest in the course and the places fill up quickly. We only have 6 places available on this course! That is why we use a “first come, first served” arrangement. This means that the sooner you can reach us, the greater the chance that there is still a place available on the course.

You can sign up via the link here on the page next to the price and start date or through the button in the top corner.
