We have designed a fantastic ski instructor course in collaboration with Instituto Superior de Enseñanzas en Deportes de Invierno y Montaña, which is one of the worlds most acknowledged ski teacher associations. We have done this to secure and guarantee you the best ski training and preparation, before your season as a ski instructor starts in sunny Spain. 


Special designed ski instructor course


To prepare you the best way, the theoretical part is already available from Septemer via our online platform. But what if I do not speak Spanish at a conversational level? No worries. There are time to improve your Spanish skills by doing a Spanish online language course, which is made in collaboration with Instituto Superior de Enseñanzas en Deportes de Invierno y Montaña. This online course is tailormade to become a ski instructor. 

In November you will meet your new colleagues on the glacier in Cervinia, Italy, where our 3 weeks instructor course takes place. Firstly you will be trained and prepared in one week and afterwards you will start the ski instructor course as a Spanish level 1 ski instructor. The course will be taught in English by our Spanish partners from Instituto Superior de Enseñanzas en Deportes de Inviernoy Montaña. Our professional partners will teach you to give classes to beginners, light experienced and experienced skiers. After the 3 weeks in Cervinia you will travel to Madrid with your new colleagues, where the theoretical exam takes place. During your 10 days in Madrid you will be stay at a hotel with halv pension, only 30 minutes from Madrid city center and in walking distance from the school. Madrid has a lot to offer and you will also have time to enjoy the gastronomic experiences and feel the Madrid spirit. You will also extend your knowledge of team building skills, skiing material and equipment, mountain environments, teaching methods, skiing strategies and skills, and sports safety.

Year after year we experience that a winter season as a ski instructor is way more than just skiing. Besides enjoying the slopes and working as a ski instructor you will also experience a unique community among your colleagues whom all share the same passion as you – skiing and the Spanish culture!

In Spain, you will work as a ski instructor at one of our close partner ski schools in Sierra Nevada, and get the opportunity to teach a diverse mix of local and international guests. This working experience should offer you some more insight into the Spanish culture, the way people live, and how they spend their holiday vacations. For most ski instructors, your average day involves lessons in the morning and early afternoon hours followed by free ski time with your friends and colleagues in the afternoons and evenings. Granada is only located 32 kilometres from Sierra Nevada and offers a great nightlife such as flamenco music, dance and plenty of other activities. There are lots of possibilities by the coast that are waiting to be explored by you.  It’s a lifestyle most people can only dream of.

Travel plan, (tentative due to possible changes):

  • 1st of November: Arrival in Cervinia, Italy. Accommodation in the 3 following weeks on a 3 star hotel with half board (breakfast & dinner included)
  • 2nd – 8th of November: Preparation & ski training for the Spanish level 1. Lift card incl.
  • 9th of November: Presentation of course
  • 10th- 19th of November: Spanish level 1 ski instructor course in English by Spanish trainers from ISEDI
  • 20th of November: Flight transport from Cervinia, Italy to Madrid, Spain
  • 21st – 30th of November: Theoretical exam and further education. Possible to enjoy Madrid. Accommodation w. half board (breakfast & dinner) on hotel, walking distance from the school and 30 min. from Madrid.
  • 1st of December: Bustransport from Madrid to Sierra Nevada, Granada.
  • 2nd – 25th of December: Accommodation is incl. in December due to shadowing hours. Lift card and uniform incl. (Possible change in dates due to end of shadowing hours)
  • 26th of December – 1st of May: Work at the ski school.

When you have sent your application you will receive an invitation for a Skype interview. During the interview will evaluate your candidacy while you have the opportunity to get more information about our courses and the experience as an instructor in Spain .
After the interview, we will call you and let you know whether or not we can offer you a spot on our team.

NO WORRIES! If you don’t feel that your Spanish skills aren’t good enough yet, then there are lots of possibilities to improve your Spanish during the summer at summer schools etc. Furthermore, there is also the opportunity to practice your Spanish online via our partner, ISEDI. If you are determined and have linguistic instinct, then it should not be a problem to speak Spanish at a conversational level by December, where your shadowing hours start.



We have a partnership with Instituto Superior de Enseñanzas en Deportes de Invierno y Montaña which is one of the Worlds most respected ski associations. We have made this collaboration to secure you with the best training and preparation. The instructor course is taking place on the glacier in Cervinia, Italy, since there is snow guarantee in November.

The trainers will take you through the 10 days instructor course in English.  The TD1 course is level 1 in the Spanish ski instructor system. You will be trained to give classed to beginners, light experienced, and experienced skiers. After your exam and shadowing hours you will be ready to work at the ski school.

The Spanish level 1 is recognised in Argentina, Chile, and Andorra. This means that the course also gives access to work in all 4 countries. After your full season in Spain you have the possibility to be a ski instructor in Latin America, if you want more.

You will also get an ISIA stamp which is certified by the International Ski Instructor Association. The ISIA stamp does also include accident and indemnity insurance.


Shadowing hours 

When you arrive at your destination you will get a liftcard for the period when you do shadowing hours, after this you will receive a season lift card. Before you can start working as a ski instructor you will have to do shadowing hours. This period is one of the reasons why the Spanish level 1 is acknowledged around the World. It is also the reason why you are able to work in Andorra, Chile, And Argentina. The shadowing hours are prescribed by law in Spain. The period can vary a bit due to snow conditions and the amount of guests in December. Thus, this period is the best way to prepare you for being a ski instructor and conduct classes by yourself.



  1. Part: You will have to shadow/follow a ski school class, observe and help if needed.
  2. Part: Consists of teambuilding and teamwork.
  3. Part: You conduct a ski school class, where you will be observed by an experienced ski instructor. This is the best possible way to prepare you for a the work as a ski instructor. Now you are good to go.


The Snowminds job guarantee and how it works

The job guarentee means that we will make sure you have a job at the skischool, after you have successfully passed your instructor training. You will already know at which destination you will spend your season at, before departure. The job guarantee is naturally conditional on your ski and snowboard teacher training, which over 90% of our students successfully pass. Even in the event you do not receive your certification, we still do everything we can to ensure you a job. That way you enjoy your season as an instructor like everyone else and then retake your certification. With six years of experience to date, we are proud to say we have always been able to find a job for 100% of our instructors after graduation from our training course. 


Salary, expences & progress

We have top professional partners around the world and in collaboration with the, we secure and guarantee ou that liftcard, accommodation, and uniform will be ready for you, when you arrive at your destination. Be aware that you have to pay accommodation from January. You will be employed directly at the ski school which will pay out your salary depending on your effort. At most of the Spanish ski schools the salary is 16-18€ an hour with the Spanish level 1. You will not become rich as a ski instructor, but the hourly salary in Spain is generally higher that other destination when having a level 1 course. A working week can vary depending on snow conditions and time at the season.

During your interview we will evaluate your motivation, Spanish skills, qualifications, and wishes to your Snowminds experience. This is important for us to give you the perfect experience.


All our ski school partners are carefully chosen and we have a close relation to all of them. This also means, if there should occur any difficulties or problems, then you can always contact us. We are here to give you an experience for life and we will do anything to help and support you, if there should bee any need for it.



We organise and arrange the transport from the course in Cervinia, Italy to Madrid, Spain. When your theoretical training and exam are done in Madrid, we will arrange your trip to your ski school destination, where you will have accommodation in December and the opportunity to meet your new boss.

When the season is over you will have to arrange the transport home, since there is a huge difference among if our instructors continue to travel after the season has ended. This is for your own costs, but we are of course more than welcome to help and guide you with the best solutions.



“We take care of our own” and during an intense ski instructor course you will need delicious and healthy food and a good accommodation. You have probably heard bad stories about youth hostels with 8 people in one rome and bad food, that is also happening many places, but definitely not at Snowminds.

We are proud to secure quality during the whole experience, and this is also the reason why we have partnerships with nice hotels, which serve health and nutritious breakfast. You will live with 2-5 persons in a 3 star hotel with WiFi.


You will travel to Madrid with the rest of the team after 3 weeks in Cervinia. You will stay at a hotel with half board for 10 days. The hotel is located close to the school and only 30 minutes from Madrid. This is also included in the price. In Madrid you will have the opportunity to enjoy the city and you will also extend your knowledge of team building skills, skiing material and equipment, mountain environments, teaching methods, skiing strategies and skills, and sports safety.


We have a partnership the International Ski School in Sierra Nevada, where they have a partnership with a hotel. Snowminds cover the accommodation in December due to the shadowing hours. From January you will have to cover you accommodation costs.
