4 Week Ski Instructor Training Course at Whistler in Canada

Become a Ski Instructor at Whistler Blackcomb

The Dream in Canada

Did you miss the boat this year and postpone your dream of becoming a ski instructor in Canada? Well, we have good news: it’s not too late! For a very limited time, Snowminds offers you the unique chance to participate in a 4-week ski instructor training course at Whistler Blackcomb, one of the world’s top ski resort destinations. With a specially designed 4-week training course at Whistler University, you can now become a Level 1 certified ski instructor in Canada and position yourself well for a job the following winter season.

The Training

Through a close partnership with Whistler Blackcomb Resort and the Canadian Ski Association, we have created a training course to help you become a certified ski instructor in Canada this spring. Over a period of 4 weeks you will train 5 days per week and develop your technique both on- and off- the piste. With some of the highest-trained and most talented instructors anywhere in the world, you can expect your ski abilities to quickly flourish at Whistler Blackcomb.

Your 4 week training course culminates with your Canadian Level 1 ski instructor certification exam, which gives you access to venture out and work as a ski instructor in the “summer” or the following winter. With an internationally-recognized CASI Level 1 certification from Whistler, you will have many new doors opened for potential ski instructor jobs going forward. So why wait until next year? Jump the line instead with all the credentials you need to work as a certified ski instructor in the future.

The Instructor Life

In Canada, you will get to train for one month at a world-class resort and quickly become a competent CASI certified ski instructor. The town of Whistler is very international, which means you’ll get the chance to make many new friends from around the world. After your training course ends in May, you will then have the ability to travel around Canada and the U.S. with your new friends and fellow Snowminders. Maybe that means doing a road trip to the national parks, or hitting the west coast of California for waves? Either way, our experienced team is there to help you every step of the way.

"Whistler Blackcomb is unreal. The stunning nature and wild landscape makes you feel like you're waking up each morning in paradise. And, well, that's because you are. "

- Frederik, Snowminds Instructor

KEY DETAILS ABOUT THE COURSE

PAID JOB GUARANTEE

The Snowminds job guarantee and how it works

The job guarentee means that we will make sure you have a job at the skischool, after you have successfully passed your instructor training. You will already know at which destination you will spend your season at, before departure. The job guarantee is naturally conditional on your ski and snowboard teacher training, which over 90% of our students successfully pass. Even in the event you do not receive your certification, we still do everything we can to ensure you a job. That way you enjoy your season as an instructor like everyone else and then retake your certification. With six years of experience to date, we are proud to say we have always been able to find a job for 100% of our instructors after graduation from our training course.

HOUSING

Training Course Housing

During the course you’ll have arranged housing with all the other Snowminds Instructors. You’ll have a fantastic community like feel together with all your future colleagues.

SALARY

Salary

An average salary for a starting instructor in Canada is around 10-12 CAD per hour. In addition to this there are often opportunities for bonuses, for example a guest may wish to extend their lesson with you as an instructor. The job as an instructor won’t get you rich money wise, but definitely rich with experiences. We recommend bringing pocket money which will allow you to have the freedom to fully enjoy your season. The pay also depends on your own motivation, your working ethics and your previous working experience.

*For this course a job in Canada would be in the following season.

TRANSPORT

Transport To/From Canada

Your tickets to and from Canada are included in the price. As we want you to have as much flexibility as possible the transport to the airport after your season isn’t included. This gives you the opportunity to travel around after your season. Many of our former instructors went to discover Canada’s nature, or went for a roadtrip to the US after their season was done. We have loads of experience when it comes to after season travels, so if that is something you are interested in, you can always bring it up during your interview. If you wish to travel home from a different country, we will be happy to help you with that.
