Become a ski instructor in Sun Peaks

Quality & Charm

The destination

Sun Peaks is Canada’s second largest ski area and is comprised of three distinct mountains. With 135 slopes and 6 meters of annual snowfall, Sun Peaks offers first-class conditions without the crowds.

Sun Peaks receives 6 meters of snow annually and is also blessed with light, dry powder conditions that the Interior of BC is famous for. The city is adorned with many prizes, including the #2 Best Overall Resort three times over the last four seasons. But perhaps the best part is purely selfish: Sun Peaks is wide-open. There are no crowds and few queues at the lifts. If you’re looking for opportunities off the piste, you are in luck. Take a snowmobile ride, slide down the mountain in a huge rubber ring, or shred off-piste through the trees. There are so many reasons for you to become a ski instructor in Sun Peaks!

The Ski School

As a ski or snowboard instructor in Sun Peaks, you will work at a ski school with approximately 100 other instructors. Known as the “Sun Peaks Sports School”, they offer not only ski lessons but also training in cross country skiing, the snowpark and  snowboarding. Being a part of the local ski community also has its perks, with good deals offered to the ski instructors in stores and around town.

In fact, the employees of Sun Peak are considered so well-treated that the resort won an award for being most “Employees-First” company in 2015. Such high quality business practices and service is one of the many reasons why Snowminds partners with Sun Peaks to deliver our 3 week training courses.

The ski instructor life

At Sun Peaks, you will get the benefits of a world-class ski area combined with the charm of a more local Canadian ski resort. The ski instructor life in Sun Peaks is really an amazing experience. If you need a drink or a bite to eat, you can also ski through the city, which is ski-in, ski-out. It’s a sweet setup and way to live. When you’re not working or shredding, Sun Peaks also offers you a wide-array of activities to choose from, such iceskating, fat biking or skibiking down the slopes, snowmobile tours, and many other options. And after all that you can always end your season in Hawaii!
